Mikumi National Park is one of Tanzania’s most accessible wildlife parks and a gateway to the southern safari circuit. Located just 250 km west of Dar es Salaam, it’s perfect for short safaris or as a stopover en route to Ruaha or Nyerere National Parks. Despite its easy access, Mikumi offers classic safari experiences, with open grasslands resembling the Serengeti and a high chance of spotting wildlife like elephants, giraffes, lions, zebras, and hippos. The park is framed by the Uluguru Mountains to the east and the Udzungwa Mountains to the south, creating stunning scenery and unique ecosystems.
