Lake Manyara National Park is a compact yet incredibly diverse wildlife sanctuary located in northern Tanzania, at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Famous for its tree-climbing lions, flamingo-lined lake, and lush groundwater forests, this park offers a complete safari experience in a small space. The park’s namesake alkaline lake dominates its eastern side and attracts thousands of birds and large mammals. With its rich habitats — including forest, swamp, open plains, and hot springs — Lake Manyara is ideal for day trips, photography, and birdwatching. It’s often visited en route to Ngorongoro or Serengeti and is part of the popular northern safari circuit.
