Nestled in the remote northwestern corner of Tanzania, Rumanyika-Karagwe National Park is one of the country’s newest and least-explored wildlife destinations. Once a game reserve, the park was officially gazetted in 2019, named in honor of King Rumanyika of the Karagwe Kingdom. Its lush woodlands, open plains, and riverine valleys host a diverse range of wildlife and bird species, offering an authentic safari experience far from the crowds of the more popular parks. Rich in history and cultural heritage, it’s also a gateway to uncovering the unique traditions of the Kagera region.
