Overview

Climb Mount Kilimanjaro via the scenic and less-traveled Rongai Route, which approaches from the dry, northeastern side near the Kenyan border. This unique route offers breathtaking views across the African savannah and the dramatic peaks of Mawenzi.

The trail winds through diverse landscapes—from fir and rainforests to alpine deserts—and includes a special highlight: the only mountain lake in Kilimanjaro National Park, just beyond Mawenzi Tarn Camp. While generally considered one of the easier routes, the summit area’s rocky terrain can be moderately challenging.

Descent is made along the Marangu Route, taking trekkers through lush rainforest trails. Accommodation is in mountain tents throughout the trek, offering an authentic and immersive wilderness experience.
